Wal-Mart Sells Funeral CasketsWal-Mart Has Entered the Funeral Business
Wal-Mart is now selling funeral caskets manufactured by Star Legacy Funeral Network, Inc. Will people actually buy the coffins?
Wal-Mart is known to carry virtually every type of merchandise now from clothing to prescription medications. Now the retail conglomerate is selling funeral caskets. You can go to Wal-Mart’s online store and find a selection of surprisingly attractive coffins in the “For the Home” department. Why Would Wal-Mart Sell Caskets? If one were to think logically and remove the sense of macabre from one’s thoughts, the answer is simple. The economic crisis of 2008 that plagued the United States and the rest of the world probably played a huge part. With large insurance companies like AIG that faced almost extinction that year a lot of people feared about having access to their insurance policies. Also with job losses that still continue, many have had to drop their life insurance policies because they could no longer afford to make payments. With this sad reality loved ones of the uninsured deceased will have to shop around for an affordable casket. Wal-Mart saw an opportunity and took it. Who Would Buy a Coffin at Wal-Mart?Many people plan their funerals in advance to help alleviate the stress for their loved ones. One of the ways to do this is to purchase your funeral in advance from the cemetery plot to the funeral service itself. Already people are asking about testing these coffins out for purchase for their own burial. It’s not just people who are planning their funeral in advance that would purchase one of the coffins sold at Wal-Mart. The Halloween season is profitable for some businesses that give haunted house tours or host Halloween parties. Such companies would find it a worthwhile investment to purchase one of these caskets to use again each year or for each “spooky” event they host. Script writers, directors and set designers of films and plays may want to purchase one of these caskets. Successful plays can run for numerous years and coffins are an integral part of certain plays such as the funeral scene for Angel in the play Rent. Taking these things into consideration purchasing an $895.00 casket from Wal-Mart is a sound investment that can provide years of use. Which Coffins Have Received Positive Reviews? As of the date this article was written only the Lady de Guadalupe Steel Casket has seen positive reviews. Things to Consider Before Purchasing a Casket at Wal-MartThere are points to take into consideration before purchasing a coffin from Wal-Mart. Be aware that Wal-Mart can only accept returns for coffins that were damaged during delivery. There are no buyer’s remorse returns for caskets, so think carefully before purchasing. Wal-Mart does not provide assistance with finding funeral homes or mortuaries. Also, buyers should already have a funeral home selected that will accept the use of coffins sold at Wal-Mart. If buyers have specific questions about a particular casket they can post their questions in the Q&A section for the coffin on Wal-Mart.com or call the manufacturer, Star Legacy Funeral Network, Inc.
