Twenty-four year old style icon Zia Sachedina's Boutique was voted "2009 Best Fashion Accessories" and "Best Jewelry" in Savannah by Savannah Magazine.

Twenty-four year old style icon Zia Sachedina opened the doors of ZÏA Boutique in 2005 and has since been featured in coveted magazines like Lucky and National Geographic. Boutique owner and CEO Zia Sachedina features an array of creative and distinctive sterling silver and gold jewelry, exclusive accessories and unique home interior accents. Besides designing himself, Zia offers a selection of 48 different designers from around the globe.

The jewelry is exclusive because many of the designers only visit Zia once or twice a year to showcase one of a kind pieces individually crafted and meticulously scrutinized by Zia before reaching the unique displays in his boutique. Zia spoke with Suite101 about his venture and life as a young multicultural entrepreneur.

A Multicultural Style Icon in Savannah

The multicultural influence of this distinct boutique comes from the CEO himself. Sachedina split his childhood between Kenya and the US while being raised by a Japanese-American mother and an East Indian father. Zia is a former model. He was the face of national advertising campaigns in Kenya and surrounding African nations, and he has traveled extensively throughout Asia, Africa, Europe, Central and North America.

Zia told Suite101 that the inspiration for his boutique were his parents who are both entrepreneurs and encouraged him to start his own venture. “Opening ZÏA Boutique was an enormous challenge but I feel rewarded everyday,” says Sachedina.

Sachedina travels the world in search of exotic and unusual materials to create his jewelry line. There is golden grass from Brazil, hill-tribe silver from Thailand and pokot beads from Kenya. “I am inspired by the colorful cultures and individuals I meet around the world and design with a fresh perspective influenced by my multicultural heritage,” he explains to Suite101.

Presentation and Personal Style as Secret to Success

Zia Sachedina’s success can be attributed to his unique presentation and personal style. As an entrepreneur Zia learned quickly that “in order to make money, you have to spend money.” He continues to quote Henry Ford who once said that "a man who stops advertising to save money is like a man who stops a clock to save time." Sachedina takes the valuable time to understand what his customers are looking for. “I knew that I wanted to offer a different style of jewelry, but I had to learn just how adventurous the public would be.”

Quality products, effective marketing materials, a clean website, a beautiful store space and neat personal appearance are closely related to Sachedina’s success. No doubt Sachedina is a rising entrepreneurial star who works very hard on his business with an impeccable eye for unique designs and creative displays.
